I have been working on a book about the Davis Farmers Market which was featured in the Davis Enterprise. It has been a great and fun project working with Georgeanne Brennan and Ann Evans, the book authors, Ethel Brennan, food stylist and Georgeanne’s daughter, and Kristine Brogno, the book designer! When I heard of his death on Wednesday evening, October 5, 2011, it was a bit of a shook and sad for me. He was Apple and the vision for everything in the company. He started the company with a determined vision, got forced out of his own company and came back to the company as it was faltering. He not only saved the company but he brought it to new heights and became one of the most powerful and successful companies in America. Reinventing Oakland’s Restaurant Scene. Click on photo to see the story and photos I did for the New York Times. Many new great restaurants are choosing Oakland to locate their business because of lower costs compared to San Francisco. It’s building Oakland back up and making it a nice alternative for dining just across the Bay Bridge.
